Question about an ex, and what you think "withhold talking", means.?

Over the last couple of months though we've been in contact and have spoken a couple of times on the phone. When we first started contacting each other again she was honest and told me she was seeing someone but that friendship was ok. Recently though she told me that her current bf did not approve of her being friends with an ex and so out of fairness to him she didn't think it would good for us to talk. She sent me an email saying that she was going to have to "withhold talking, or attempting to meet up for lunch out of respect for his feelings" (I had asked her if she wanted to meet me for lunch, just to talk). I replied back that I understand and that I didn't want to interfer in her current relationship. The very next day though she sent me an email (a picture and a brief description) of something that she was going to buy. I'm confused now. Is she saying that emails are ok, but that we just shouldn't talk on the phone? I sort of took "withhold talking" to mean any contact. Opinions?
